Sweet New Restaurant in Howth

Today Katie and I went to try out a new cafe that opened up in Howth. A welcome change from Beshoffs, don't get me wrong I LOVE Beshoffs but I have it too much now, so I was delighted when Katie told me about this new place called The Dog House Blues Tea Room. Its a sweet little cafe just beside the train station. It has a really nice old vintage feel to it, with its mismatched chairs and old trinkets lying around. They sell coffee, paninii's, stew, soup and sweet cakes. Me and Katie got the chicken soup it was amazing and came with lovely brown bread. And of course we got desert cause we're pigs like that. I got a caramel slice and Katie got a massive muffin. The food was whopper, and they kept playing Take my Breath Away from Topgun, so you should all try it out sometime!

Jennifer's Directorial Debut on Foreign Cities

Recently my friend Jennifer has asked me to help her in the making of her first music video for the Australian artist James Cooper. James is a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He released his first album ‘Second Season’ in 2005 and co-wrote the ARIA top 10 Australian hit ’Beautiful As You’ for much loved Aussie band The Whitlams in 2006.
So he's kinda a big deal!

James Cooper

James is currently collaborating with 10 directors and film-based creatives (mostly Irish) creating the Foreign Cities Music Films Project. The concept behind these films are 10 music films of any nature using the songs James has written and produced as either the audio bed on which the director will tell their story or use the song in a more traditional way for a promo style film. It’s all up to the director to make their choice and go their own route.

So we started filming the video last Saturday with our beautiful models Aine, Amy and producer Declan! We got an absolutely beautiful day for the filming, thank god because we needed it for the video concept. Jennifer got stuck into her role as the director and the day ran smoothly, we even got a lovely sunset!
Day two of shooting we weren't quite so lucky with the weather it was quite a cold blustery day but at least the rain held off and our models were fantastic and braved the cold weather in the dresses! The rain held off right until after the last shot of the day which was great.

Now Declan and Jennifer are getting stuck into the editing and its looking good so far!
The video will be released along with the other nine videos at the Sugar Club, Leeson St on the 17th of May where there will be a live set from Bantum feat. Geppetto. Hosts For The Love Of (Ivor & Shane). 20 free vinyls for first 20 in the door. €10 door. Its going to be a really sweet evening! So come along and support Jennifer and check out all the creative new videos for James Cooper's new album.

St Particks Day Treats!!

My first St Patricks day treat is Lucky Charms krispy cake. For this you will need Lucky Charms, butter, oil and marshmallows
Step 1. Drizzel oil into a pot on medium heat
Step 2. Melt 2 table spoons of butter in the pot
Step 3. Add marshmallows and stir until they are all melted and remove from the heat
Warning!! It will look gross
Step 4. Add in the cereal and stir into the mixture
Step 5. Place the mixture into a cake tin and pop in the fridge
Tada!!
This cake was real tasty but so so sugary, after one slice you feel like vomiting and go on a serious sugar rush, do not make these for kids, I can only imagine how insane they will go on this amount of sugar!

Next I made green and orange cupcakes for this you will need
350g Self Raising Flour
275g Caster Sugar
275g Soft Margarine
5 Eggs
3 Tablespoons Milk
Icing Sugar
Green and orange food dye

Step 1. Pre-heat oven to 150°C 300°C Gas 2.
Step 2. Sieve the flour into a bowl and add all the other ingredients.
Step 3. Beat all the ingredients together, gently, using a low setting on the mixer.
Step 4. When ingredients are combined increase speed and beat for one minute.
Step 5. Separate the mixture into two bowls
Step 6. Add orange dye to one, and green to the other
Step 7. Spoon mixture into cake tin
Step 8. Cook for 15 mins

Step 9. Go crazy with icing

So very very orange
Then I made a green milkshake, for this one you will need, I mint Aero bar, green food dye, milk, icecream and ice
Basically throw it all into the blender and tada you got yourself a whopper green milkshake, suck it MacDoanlds!
Here's Maria enjoying hers before Tallafornia
Marty and Collie also got in on the festive themed foo, here are their masterpieces
